Messages of remembrance, love and hope

106,000 Australian babies lose their lives to miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death each year. With this loss comes grief and heartache – often accompanied by isolation and stigma.

We invited bereaved Australian families, loved ones and friends to help us create a virtual quilt – a video filled with messages of remembrance, love and hope. You can watch the video below.

We hope this project will help build understanding of the impact that pregnancy and infant loss has on the lives of those left behind.

It aims to remind us that the common theme of parenthood – our love for our children – applies equally to parents of both living and deceased babies. Our support for parents should also be universal.

If you – or someone close to you – have experienced pregnancy loss or infant loss, visit our Find Support page to connect with a support service.

The Lullabies and Loss virtual quilt was launched on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, 15 October 2020.

Health Minister Greg Hunt and leaders of the six Lullabies and Loss partner organisations recorded this special message for the launch.
